After I unboxed my new EVH BYO guitar kit I went straight to work on lightly sanding the body and applying the MinWax PolyShade stain. (See the unboxing video here.)

I didn’t tape anything up which I wish I would have but since I was pretty careful no harm was done. The MinWax PolyShade actually turned out pretty nice. In the future I’m just going to stain and then add a clear coat afterward.

MinWax PolyShade is supposed to be a one-step stain/poly application. I still had to apply 2 coats and clean up is messy since it’s oil based.

The body turned out really nice (not perfect like in a major guitar factory) and I’m happy with it.
