PART III: Staining Maple Veneer – EVH-Style – BYO Videos From Start to Finish

Building my own custom EVH Wolfgang style guitar has been super frustrating but has given me a huge appreciation for the guitar luthier. There are so many steps that go into building an awesome guitar.

This is step 3 in my project but really I have already spent a few weeks getting to this point. In this video I stain the maple veneer. The maple veneer top is beautiful and BYO did a great job with it. The veneer is super thin however and sanding it is not really an option.

I start by apply Stewart Mac Vintage Amber stain. Too light! After I figured out that I need to use a LOT more stain and less water I was good to go. The finished product is beautiful.
